ESD WebDesign Class

Over the first semester I have taken a class at the Episcopal School of Dallas called Web Design. I thoroughly enjoyed the class because it gave me a new understanding on websites and how they come into being. Overall I liked the class but it was a little too stressful because it asked too much of us when we already have a lot to do. If I was to change the class a little I would give us more time to work on our projects. I will miss this class a lot because next semester I have Health which I hear is a pain in the butt.

Bad Grades

Have you ever gotten a bad grade and had your parents get really mad at you? Because I have and I don’t think its fair. I know they went through the same thing but I believe the school work we have today is much harder then the work they had. I think the parents need to understand that we are under a lot of stress and that its hard for us to balance sports, social life, and school work. I wish just for one day our parents would be in our shoes and know how it feels to be under such stress and have to turn in papers and take tests all within a short period of time. I think also if we were in our parents shoes we would see where they are coming from because they just want us to succeed and want us to do the best we can.

Christmas Break

After exams next week we have Christmas Break which is amazing because we finally get a long break from school. Over Christmas Break my family usually goes somewhere to scuba diving. This year we are going to Belize for the 5th time in a row which doesnt bother me because I love going to Belize. When we go to Belize we stay on an island called Ambergris Caye and in a town called San Pedro. The island is narrow and small that you drive golf carts around and the only cars are the taxis and the food and water delivery trucks. Usually when we go to Belize we scuba dive most of the time but we go fishing on one of the days which is my favorite. There are so many species of fish in the waters around the island. When we go fishing we mainly catch bonefish and snapper. On one unusual case my cousin caught a puffer fish and I caught a spanish makeral which is rare in those waters. I cant wait to go back this year because now my cousin can finally scuba dive with the rest of the family so the whole family will go scuba diving for the first time ever.

Exams and Stress

Next week at ESD we have our exams. 7th graders through 12th graders take exams. Almost everybody gets stressed out even the little 7th graders who barely have to study for their exams. Although exams represent a break from school they can’t be over quick enough. The weekend before exams is always the worst. You can’t do anything social and you have to stay at home and study. I know I always get stressed by exams because I’m always afraid I will do badly so I study my butt off. Even though exams can be stressful I kind of liek them because they symbolize a break even though this break is 2 weeks and after 2nd semester exams the break is summer which is 3 months. So as I am here writing my blog I am thinking about how bad this weekend will be and how happy I will be when it is finally Christams Break and I can relax.

Snow in Dallas

Yesterday, on December 2, 2009 in Dallas, TX it snowed for at least an hour. The snow started out as a light flurry or two but then turned into a massive snowfall for Texas weather but for any place else it was average. Although the snow melted after a couple of hours it was still cool to see snow on the second day of December which is really wierd for Dallas. This Friday it is supposed to snow but you never know in Texas because the weather can change in the blink of an eye. In Dallas, we havent had a snow day in at least 2 years but that doesnt stop me from hoping and believing it will snow enough for us to have a snow day.

Which blog site is better?

Between blogspot and wordpress I personally like wordpress better because it has no adds and it has a better feel. It is easier to read the blogs and easier to create a new post on your blog. On blog spot it is hard for me to concentrate because of all the bright colors that distract me from what I am trying to do. If I had to request a blog site to someone I would choose wordpress because it is so easy to use and read.

Parents on Facebook

Have any of y’all’s parents friend requested you on Facebook or asked you if they can see your Facebook? Well mine have and it makes me very uncomfortable and awkward because I have stuff on my Facebook that I don’t want them to see. I think that it is ok for parents to get a Facebook but I don’t think they should be over protective of their kids and feel that they should see what is on their childs Facebook because its part of learning to respect your childs privacy and once they do that their kids shall start to respect their parents more because I know I have as a sophomore in highschool.
